Baylor | Lifestyle Newborn Session | Peterborough, Ontario

When Laura and Andrew messaged me to tell me that they were expecting and wanted me to do Fresh 48 photos for them, I was over the moon! First off, I’ve known Laura for quite some time as we grew up going to the same high school and then ended up working together for a short period of time at good old Boston Pizza. Secondly, I LOVE shooting Fresh 48 sessions… literally they are hands down my favourite type of session to photograph. So we scheduled her in for May and got super excited and then when March came around, so did Covid. I’m sure we’re all pretty sick of hearing the word Covid by now… but this was most likely going to throw a wrench into our plans. We chatted to see where we stood for the session and I told her let’s wait it out a bit longer and see how things are closer to your due date (thinking that it probably wouldn’t stick around for months and months). Sure enough, her due date rolled around and we were still right smack in the middle of a global pandemic. So obviously we had to cancel (postpone) her newborn session which was absolutely heartbreaking as she already had to go without a baby shower. I felt so awful and helpless! But, we had to look at the bigger picture and think of everyones health and safety, of course. Once the end of June came around and we entered Stage 2 of re-openings this gave photographers the green light to resume working indoors, in studio, outdoors, etc. with certain safety precautions in place. So once again, Laura and I chatted and she agreed that she would still love to still have some lifestyle newborn photos done of her new babes, Baylor. Although the session was a lot different for me as a photographer with wearing a mask, shooting from further back, not handling the baby and minimizing my touch within the home; I was still able to capture those precious moments of Laura and Andrew with their new baby girl.
