Hernder Estate Winery | St.Catharines, Ontario
I met Julie way back in 2009 in Surfers Paradise, Australia. We were both ‘down under’ for a year of University and hit it off right away! We spent a lot of time together from hanging out at the beach, attending Uni theme parties, going for walks and just enjoying life in paradise. The year flew by (as expected) and our group of friends all went separate ways moving back home and picking up life where we left off. Some of us stayed in touch and we even had a couple ‘aussie’ reunions back here in Canada. But then life got busy, and all of a sudden years had passed by. After not seeing Julie for a few years I was thrilled when she reached out to me to shoot her engagement photos with her finance Andrew. We met at Heber Downs Conservation area in Whitby, Ontario where we spent some time walking around, catching up, and reminiscing. It was so GREAT to see Julie again and to meet Andrew, the man of her dreams! Not long after Julie asked if I would shoot their wedding at Hernder Estate Winery in St.Catharines, Ontario. I was so honoured and excited to be able to document their special day for them.
The big day was August 14th and we woke up in the morning to POURING rain! I arrived at the girls house where they were all getting ready. Everyone was in great spirits despite the rain and very hopeful that it would let up for the outdoor ceremony. The morning went by so quickly with hair, makeup, champagne, and even photo albums of Julie’s parents wedding that were being passed around (how special)! When we arrived at Hernder Estate Winery the rain had just let up so Julie and Andrew made the call that we would continue with an outdoor ceremony. The groomsman quickly wiped down all the chairs for the guests and everyone got seated. The ceremony was beautiful with so much emotion from both the bride and groom, bridal party and guests. After the ceremony we got to sneak Julie and Andrew into the wine barrel room for some photos (which was awesome)! The grounds at Hernder Estate Winery are gorgeous with soooo many amazing spots to take pictures, it’s literally a “candy shop” for a photographer. I could have spent all day just touring around with Julie and Andrew taking pictures of them all over the property! But obviously that wasn’t the case (they had more important things to do… like get married) haha! The dinner was delicious and speeches were fantastic. At the end of the dinner service we snuck out for a few photos before the sun went down for the night. Then the drinking and dancing began and it was time for everybody to CELEBRATE the love of Julie and Andrew!
